POOR BUDDY!!!

BUDDY PROGRESS REPORT

3/6 -Mr Bud continues to make great progress. His is limping less, and taking progressively longer walks outside with Sister Diane. He's back to visiting the Resident's rooms - the ones who have a stash of sweet potato treats! And he's done some short distance 'runs' in the hallways.

He is now two months post op. You can hardly see the scar, and his fur is growing back nicely  

Here he is doing what he does best - resting! He had plenty of practice at this BEFORE the surgery!

NEWS FLASH!!!

The Budster is INJURED!

Poor Buddy tore a ligament in his right back leg, and had surgery on Mon 1/4 to repair it! He did great through the procedure. His surgeon was very pleased, as there wasn't as much damage as he feared to his knee (who knew that dogs had KNEES!!??)

A wire was inserted to do the job of the affected ligament.

Recovery means six weeks of restricted activity.

This means - no ball fetching...

Those of you who have Goldens know that they LIVE to fetch balls. So this will be a trying time for poor Buddy...

We'll keep you posted on his progress. The Residents are volunteering to'dog sit' with him to keep him occupied!

Here he has tired of waiting for someone to play ball with him, and has decided to take a nap. No big surprise there...

I call this

"Buddy the Yellow Nosed Retriever"

 He can be a very handsome dog... but those moments are few and far in-between. This was taken within five minutes of returning home from the groomers. He did NOT look like this five minutes AFTER it was taken!

In fact, we used this photo to have a watercolor done of him...

Here he shares a special moment with his 'Mom', Sr Michael. She's trying to play fetch the ball with him. After a couple of runs, guess who ends up fetching the ball?...

 This is what I envision Buddy to look like if he were to drink a gallon of coffee...

Here's the Budster thinking he's going on a nice long ride on the van. Actually, he went from the front door to the parking lot. But, like a typical dog, he was happy to have even that. It's better than nothing!

Maybe we could learn something from Buddy - to be grateful for every little thing that comes our way!
