POOR BUDDY!!!
Poor old Buddy - needed surgery on his OTHER knee! It was done on Ocrtober 15. He now has TWO bionic knees!
He had surgery on 1/4/10, for a torn ligament in his right knee (who knew dogs have KNEES?) These are pictures from the first surgery - just imagine these in mirror image and you get the idea!
These are some of his 'post-op' pictures that are really kind of cute.
That's his little stuffed penquin we gave him for the first surgery. He took it with him to the hospital, slept with it, and came home with it in his mouth! I think the Penquin might have reminded him of the Sisters...
... though we don't know why...
When he went for his second surgery he brought his stuffed Polar Bear.
For some reason he has an attraction to Artic animals...
Here Buddy looks VERY excited about having his picture taken.
Mr Bud actually is doing alot more 'therapy' work these days. We have several Residents who look forward to his daily visits. He actually knows who's room he is welcomed in, and who is not thrilled with the spectre of a 115 pound Golden Retriever standing in their doorway wagging his tail and howling 'hello'.
Mr Bud is 'Mr December 2011' in a 'Caring Canine' calender that features photos of therapy dogs in long term care facilities. He was choosen out of hundreds of dogs. Obviously, the judges do not know Buddy! (only kidding!)
Sr Diane is so proud she is popping her veil pins!
Here he is doing what he does best - resting! He had plenty of practice at this BEFORE the surgery!
He continues to work on his form in this favorite activity.
Here he has tired of waiting for someone to play ball with him, and has decided to take a nap. No big surprise there...
I call this
"Buddy the Yellow Nosed Retriever"
Maybe the Dunlop Company would concider him for advertisements?
He can be a very handsome dog... but those moments are few and far in-between. This was taken within five minutes of returning home from the groomers. He did NOT look like this five minutes AFTER it was taken!
In fact, we used this photo to have a watercolor done of him...
This is what I envision Buddy to look like if he were to drink a gallon of coffee...
Here's the Budster thinking he's going on a nice long ride on the van. Actually, he went from the front door to the parking lot. But, like a typical dog, he was happy to have even that. It's better than nothing!
Maybe we could learn something from Buddy - to be grateful for every little thing that comes our way!
